The Anti Ragging Committee of University of Science & Technology Meghalaya has been reconstituted as per the guidelines of UGC to ensure a safe and inclusive campus environment for all students.

USTM is committed to maintaining a campus free from ragging, harassment, and discrimination. Ragging in any form — physical, psychological, verbal, or through social media — is strictly prohibited and punishable under UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009.

What Constitutes Ragging?

• Any act that causes physical or psychological harm or distress to a student.
• Any act of personal ridicule, indecency or obscene gestures towards a student.
• Asking students to do an act which such a student will not do in the ordinary course.
• Any act of financial extortion or wrongful confinement.
• Any act of abuse through electronic media including mobile phones, social media, etc.

Penalties for Ragging

• Cancellation of admission.
• Suspension from attending classes or rustication from the institution.
• Withholding results or degrees.
• Debarring from appearing in examinations or other evaluations.
• Criminal proceedings under applicable law.

How to Report

Any incident of ragging must be immediately reported to:

• The Anti-Ragging Committee of the University
• The Dean of Students / Proctor
• Any faculty member or hostel warden
