The Department of Mathematics has a major objective to serve as a centre of academic excellence in the area of post graduate education in Mathematics and to provide research facilities for Research in the area of Differential Equation, Relativity and Cryptography.

There are so many fields such as physical science, economics, insurance, astronomy, banking, Research and accountancy in which Mathematics is important. All the highest paying jobs are directly or indirectly related with Mathematics. In the Government sector, mathematics post graduates may be engaged in government department, semi government department, Research Organisations, technical branches, colleges and Universities. Besides academic jobs, mathematicians are also engaged in Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and National Academic Limited (NAL).Teaching is one of the most sought after profession after Ph.D.
