The Department of Physics, USTM is engaged in research and teaching in the frontier areas of theoretical and experimental Physics. Excellence in research, teaching and Skill development has been the focus of this Department ever since its inception. The Department is following the Choice based credit system for offering all the programs.

The career scope in Physics is exceedingly promising for undergraduates, postgraduates and Ph. D scholars. On successful completion of the programs offered by the department, the students can pursue research for improved methods and technologies in different areas like Communication Systems, Radio Physics, Petroleum industry, Aerospace Sciences, Astrophysics and Astronomy, Geophysics, Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, Biophysics, Nuclear & Particle Physics and also in emerging areas of Cryogenics, Crystallography, Plasma physics etc. Besides research, the students are well groomed to uncover job opportunities in the diverse areas as mentioned. The students find scope in Education sector to become facilitators of teaching-learning process and enabled skilled persons who may contribute to growth of National and Global Society through entrepreneurial development.
